It is Grand Opening Week in our new shop. If you haven’t been in to see us yet, this week is a great time to stop by. We’ll have treats all week, including these adorable and delicious cookies by Julie Helgaas.

Cookies

You can order cookies from Julie at thequeenscookie.com

We also have prize drawings every day this week.

Everyone who enters the daily drawing is eligible for the grand prize drawing for the Jordana Paige Rio bag. We will be announcing the winners daily here and on our Facebook page.

For our webstore customers, all of the sock yarn we have online will be 15% off this week only. This is an online-only sale, but we do have the option for in-store pickup when you order online.

This Saturday is the Learn to Knit Blitz. We are working on a couple of Friday evening events, so check back for more details. Also, we are going to be open on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm through Christmas.

Whew! That’s a lot. Hopefully we remembered it all. We’d love to see you this week, so come in and say hi.

PS–one more thing. We have a few more skeins of kool-aid yarn left. Thanks so much to everyone who has made a hat or mittens.

It’s a Flying Saucer!

We just got this cool new sock yarn in from Schoppel Wolle. It’s called a Flying Saucer.

Flying Saucer sock yarn

Two strands of yarn are dyed together and then wound on a spool. You can knit both of your socks at the same time, and they’ll come out looking pretty close to identical. It’s a lot of fun to knit. Stop in and check it out!

Update: We now have Flying Saucers available in our online store.

Ready for a new knit-along?

Have you heard about the February Lady sweater? It’s one of the most popular patterns out there right now. Designed by Pamela Wynne, it is a take-off of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s original sweater designs. It is an easy sweater to fit. Its simplicity allows for your own personal design changes, and you can knit it in just about any worsted weight yarn.

Anne knit this one in Malabrigio Tonos. Amanda is busy knitting it in Hemp for Knitting. We are setting aside a 3 hour block of time in the shop each Monday, March 23 through May 3rd, for working on it together. So come when it works for you, or join us here or on our Ravelry group with questions and comments.
